If you’re dealing with persistent pain in your feet or ankle, I don’t need to tell you how infuriating and discouraging it can be, especially if you’re an active individual. Pain is bad enough, but it’s so much tougher when we have to cut out some of our favorite activities like running or cycling.
The most important elements of ankle/foot recovery are (1) improving ankle mobility and (2) learning and practicing proper foot placement during activities like walking, running, squats, and athletics.
I’ve included several of my favorite ankle and foot exercises in this video. Try incorporating a few reps of these exercises daily, and share your results with me!
If you need foot/ankle strength training then its best to start a recovery program for accountability and guidance. Check out www.evercorelife.com for lots of articles foot/ankle recovery. Nothing heals better than education!

Why it’s important to get Inflammation under con Why it’s important to get Inflammation under control
The 5 cardinal signs of inflammation are relatively easy to detect. (redness, warmth, swelling, pain, and loss of function)
But signs of chronic, systemic inflammation throughout the body may not be as obvious.
In Dr. Lauren Weiss’s opinion, a ketogenic diet is one of the most powerful tools to combat excessive inflammation.
Check out our interview on the Evercore YouTube channel and learn why it’s important to get inflammation under control.
Meniscus tears are among the most common knee inju Meniscus tears are among the most common knee injuries, particularly among athletes in contact sports.
But do all meniscus tears require surgery for optimal recovery results?
No! Studies have shown that *for some patients*, the long-term outcomes of surgery vs. physical therapy can be the same! Consult with your medical team to make the right choices for you. You’d be surprised to see how much your body can heal itself with physical therapy, good nutrition, and positive thinking.
Generally, physical therapists will tailor treatment plans to your specific type of meniscus tear, recovery goals, and personal history. However, there’s a few general goals that ring true for most conservative meniscus tear recovery plans:
1) Improve your knee’s range of motion
2) Improve the strength of your muscles around the knee
3) Decrease swelling and pain
4) Improve functional mobility of your knee
Swipe right to try out three at-home meniscus tear exercises with supervision from your physical therapist.
Sciatica symptom checklist Do you have any of th Sciatica symptom checklist
Do you have any of these symptoms? (There can be other symptoms too).
If so then let your doctor know so they can diagnose you properly. After possible imaging like an x-ray or MRI (although not necessary before you get evaluated by a physical therapist), you’ll likely be referred to see a physical therapist for a specific treatment program to get rid of those symptoms.
Even after all that, you may still have pain that comes and goes. You may want to see what treatments are helping others and what others are doing to cope with their pain.
If you would like to connect with a group of over 7300k people with sciatica then join our free support group on Facebook. This group is encouraging and feels like family.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the huma The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the human body. Sciatica describes nerve pain that follows the sciatic nerve from your lower back, down your hips, buttocks, and leg.
There are many different causes of sciatica, from herniated discs, to nerve impingement, to muscular imbalances. The result is inflammation, pain, and even some numbness along one side of the body.
This condition can be extremely painful and demotivating. Unfortunately, it tends to stick around for long periods. But that doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to a lifetime of sciatica!
Swipe right for just a few exercises you can do at home to help relieve sciatic pain. Ask your physical therapist which ones are right for you.
Shown above:
1) Press-ups
2) Pelvic tilts

Is your foot still sensitive after surgery? Incis Is your foot still sensitive after surgery?
Incisions may still be numb. The foot and ankle may still be sensitive to light touch.
Hyperalgesia means you have an increased sensitivity to pain.
Allodynia means you feel pain in response to light touch that shouldn’t cause pain.
It’s possible to feel these sensations after foot/ankle surgery due to tissue trauma from the surgery, nerve blocks, decreased blood flow, swelling, inflammation, and other factors.
Try to desensitize the foot with tactile stimulation to normalize your response to light touch and pressure on the foot.
This video shows one way to stimulate the foot with new tactile input in hopes of restoring normal sensory function.
Since the foot is going through inversion and eversion in this video, you can also improve motor control and learn how to restore those two important movements of the ankle.
As always, follow the guidelines established by your doctor or physical therapist.
If you are recovering from a broken ankle/foot or had surgery and want to learn what others are doing for their rehab, then join our free broken ankle/foot support group on Facebook. The link to join is in our Ig bio or www.evercorelife.com
